According to a new report from the market research and industry analysis firm Maravedis Inc. he Russian Federation remains among the world’s top five Wireless Broadband opportunities. Maravedis’ second edition of “Russian Federation Broadband and WiMAX Market Analysis and Forecasts” 2008-2012 details the opportunities and challenges within the Russian Federation for BWA/WiMAX products and services.
The Russian economy is flourishing. GDP per capita has risen from $ 4000 in 1999 to $ 12,000 in 2006. The demand in telecom services is rapidly outpacing the capacity of legacy infrastructure. Even now, investment in telecom is mostly coming into large cities, still leaving many places without coverage. Over 75% of Russians still do not have access to basic dial-up Internet access. Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) have the chance to tap into this latent demand for broadband connections.
“Several WISPs, such as Enforta, Quantum, and Synterra, have already launched services in numerous regions of Russia. They are enjoying early successes and considerable demand from consumers and businesses,” said Adlane Fellah, CEO and Founder of Maravedis Inc. “Our forecast for BWA shows the vast potential for this marketplace and is accompanied by an in-depth analysis of its existing wireless operators.”
“Consolidation has already started among the 200 current BWA service providers in the country,” said Artur Mironenko, analyst at Maravedis and author of the report. “After interviewing the Top 10 WISPs, we concluded that the most active players will be the cash-rich companies belonging to one of the three major holdings in Russia, namely Alfa, Sistema, and Telecom Invest, which control both fixed and mobile service providers. Others such as Enforta also benefit from a sound investment capacity.”
Maravedis is convinced that the Russian Federation will remain a price-sensitive market. Mobile WiMAX needs to offer much lower prices to be competitive, as penetration of conventional broadband technologies is rapidly rising (though still at a low level). While demand for broadband services explodes, both service providers and residential users require low cost CPE ($ 100 range) before they fully adopt WiMAX.
This 125-page report provides an exhaustive review of the BWA/WiMAX markets and regulatory activity currently taking place in Russia.

Does what it says it does,
Other than the initial horse work it will take to get your saw into/onto this base, everything else is cake. It is solid with no signs of stress or bowing. The tubular steel ensures that. The castors had no problem with my Jet cabinet saw. It was nice to easily tuck that beast of a saw against the wall in my limited-spaced workshop some people call a garage. It was just as easy pulling it out for use again.

|Good performance, bad quality,
I’ve had this base under the Grizzly G1023S table saw in my garage shop for four years now. It has performed flawlessly. My saw rolls and pivots as easily as you’d expect a 360-pound saw would. I try not to roll over the expansion seams in the floor, but when I have to, the base feels solid.
The leveling/locking feet work really well, but bending down to spin them is less convenient than the foot lever on some other mobile bases.
I like the four-wheel, four-point stability of this base over the three-point arrangement of other bases.
So why only 3 stars? When I was assembling the base, three of the bolt holes stripped before I could even compress the lock washers. I had to keep trying holes until I found some that held. This did not inspire confidence and has always been a nagging concern. What’s the difference between the stripped holes and the ones that held? They all looked the same. Is my base going to collapse on me in the middle of a cut? I shouldn’t have to worry about this and I shouldn’t be reading other reviews with similar problems years later.
